Council Minutes October 15, 2007
PRESENT:        Chairman Friedman, Councilor King, Councilor Perkins and Councilor Parker; Councilor Hathaway was absent and excused.  Manager W. Reed, CEO A. Thomas, Police Chief M. Leonard, and Fire Chief G. Martin were present.

ITEM 1. The October 15, 2007 Veazie Town Council meeting was called to order at 7:00PM.
        
ITEM 2. Consideration of the Minutes
Motion By:  Councilor Parker—to accept the October 1, 2007 meeting minutes as written.  Seconded: Chairman Friedman. Voted 2-0-2 in favor.

ITEM 3. Consideration of the Agenda
There were no additions to the agenda.
                
ITEM 4a.        County Jail Consolidation:
Police Chief Leonard gave the Town Council an update on the status of the proposed jail consolidation plan. He reviewed a presentation that Penobscot County had put together as an informational packet. It was highlighted that it was the department’s belief that local costs would increase greatly mainly do to the fact that transportation would likely become more complicated and greatly increase time usage for transportation both in mileage of the cruiser and personnel time with the new plan that the governor has presented.

ITEM 5a.        Ambulance Service Update:
The Fire Chief detailed that the two departments and Manager Reed met to discuss the needed revisions. Chief Martin outlined that the meeting went very well and that all parties seemed very satisfied with the agreed upon revisions. It was detailed during the overview that Orono would submit the finalized agreement and if all of the agreed upon revisions were included that the Manager would execute the document per the Town Council’s original vote. The Manager then outlined that if the revised agreement was different from the agreed upon revisions made at the joint meeting that he would remit the agreement for further Council review. He did add that he was in the belief that all would be agreeable.
        
ITEM 6.         Comments from the Public
There were no comments from the public.

ITEM 7. Manager’s Report
The Town Council then reviewed the manager’s report.

ITEM 8. Requests for Information and Town Council Comments
There were no requests for information or Town Council comments.

ITEM 9. Warrants: Town Warrant 8, Town Payroll Warrant 8, School Warrant 8 and School Payroll Warrant 8 were circulated and signed.  
        
ITEM 10.        Adjournment: Motion: Councilor King—to adjourn the October 15, 2007 Town Council Meeting. Seconded: Councilor Perkins —there was no further discussion. Voted 4-0.
