Meeting Minutes
Quorum at 8:00PM
Attendees: Amy Finkel Hastings (Co-Chair), Greg Irvine, Michael Wood, Craig Martin, and Gary Bernklow. Lynn Colletti and Stephen Quinn (arrived at 8:30PM).

Recent MSBA Approvals
MSBA approved the Elementary School Building Committee membership on August 21, 2008.
OPM RFS Approval
MSBA’s edits to OPM RFS were discussed, notably the priority school being Pompositticut and the reduced estimated project cost range to $15 mil to $24 mil by the MSBA. The committee discussed that the OPM is being selected and hired to provide services according to the scope of the project and not a certain proposed project budget. The project budget will be the result of the feasibility study. The RFS does still mention that as a part of the feasibility study, the District would like to study the option of combining Pompositticut with an addition and renovation at the Center School with that project cost estimated at 33 million dollars.
GB motioned to approve OPM RFS. MW seconded. Unanimous approval at 8:45PM.
Next Steps
If MSBA approves OPM RFS on September 16th, then MW will post the OPM RFS to the Central Register the same day. If MSBA approval occurs after September 16th, then the RFS dates will be modified appropriately and the RFS will then be posted the following week.
ESBC members to consider what questions to ask during the OPM interview process for the next meeting.
A discussion took place referring to the SBTF’s educational component on the building process and a possible method of communicating the process via a time-lapse site camera and web site. The needs of this component will have to be integrated into the building process and will be a collaborative effort involving all members of the project team to some degree. It was agreed that this educational component is still an important aspect for the school and that further discussion needs to take place by the ESBC on how to fulfill it.
Next Meeting Date
Next ESBC meeting will be on Monday, September 22, 2008 at 7:00 PM, pending MSBA’s approval of final OPM RFS this week. Otherwise, the next meeting will tentatively be set for the Monday following MSBA’s OPM RFS approval.
Public Comment
The ESBC was asked when the MSBA board meeting to approve the selected OPM will be held. It’s anticipated to be held on December 8, 2008.
