Meeting Minutes: 3/17/16
Finance Committee Meeting Opened: 7:03 pm
Finance Committee Attendance: Karen Nahrwold, Debbie Kristoff, David Bigelow, Carl Bindoo and Tom Ruchala
Finance Committee Absent: Lyndon Nichols
Skip Clark and Stephanie Bacon were also present.
Public Forum: 3 largest departments will be in attendance to do presentations. Discussion was as to what we want to say. Discussion that a pie chart showing how much of the Town’s revenue go where would be helpful to show just how much of our revenues go to the WRSD.
There was discussion as to 3 years of history of spending and budget be available that evening.
Discussion was that Finance Committee would like to get across to the public that by the time the Annual Town Meeting comes and the budget is presented, the departments have already been cut. After years of cutting and cutting and cutting, it is hurting Town services.
Discussion that we have to put presentation in layman terms.
Proper Advertising of this event was stressed. Sign out at Town Hall at least one week in advance was discussed and agreed upon. Karen to reach out to Gary to request that this advertisement be displayed.
Discussion by the Finance Committee members that Margaret needs to be present to discuss the particulars of her TA recommended budget as she was the one who met with the departments to discuss the changes.
Discussion on the Vacancy on Committee: every member should try to bring one name of potentials to the next meeting. Carl and Dave have already reached out to people they knew, however, neither was interested.
Discussion as to who was available next week on Thursday for a meeting. Carl to check with Margaret as to her availability.
Dave made the motion to adjourn, Tom seconded. Unanimously accepted to adjourn at 7:40 p.m.
