Discussions
Treasure Valley
Brett and Mike came in from Treasure Valley. They would like to re-establish a trail which would require water crossings with boardwalks and/or bridges. He believes 20 feet is the longest they will go. The trail used to be closer to the wetland but they will be moving farther away from the wetlands. There are 8 sites that will need crossings of some type. Site 1 is just north of the basin by the solar panels. It is mostly dry, so they don’t feel like this would be needed; they just wanted to bring it to the attention of the Board in case they do it. Site 2 is a perennial stream. They have chosen the highest point so the stream won’t affect the bridge. Site 3 would be a boardwalk bridge, which must happen because it is wet year round. Site 4 is an optional bog bridge. They would like the option to do the bridge later down the road, and think they would do stone for now. Site 5 is same as Site 4. Site 6 – this is the first time there has been water, but they
believe a stinger bridge or flat stones would be sufficient. Site 7 would be a stringer bridge and they would follow that will a boardwalk. Site 8 and 9 are at least a 20 foot bridge. Jake likes that they are using recycled plastics that will last. They would like to get the trail done by the summer. The impact to each site will be done only when they get to each site, so minimal site disturbance. Shawn believes bridges would be better than the stone. The length of the trail is approximately 2 miles, and they are looking to perhaps open it to the public once completed. The Board agrees that this is a great idea, and Treasure Valley should go ahead with their plans.
