November 4, 2013
Community Hall Annex
5:00 pm
Present: Sheila H. Dibb, Vice-Chairman; Joseph R. Becker, Leroy C. Clark, Michael S. Pantos, Clerk and Nancy M. Macaruso, Secretary. Peter J. Letsky, Chairman was absent.
Ms. Dibb opened the meeting at 5:05 and read a letter from Deborah Kristoff (one of three finalists for Treasurer/Collector position) who was to be interviewed this evening informing the Board of her withdrawal from consideration due to an injury.
Mr. Becker gives Mrs. Kristoff a lot of credit for her action and knows it was an extremely difficult decision for her to make. He further thanked her and wished her well in her recovery.
Mr. Becker stated that when doing reference checks for Ms. Janette, the individuals couldn’t praise her enough.
Mr. Pantos had similar responses when doing reference checks for Ms. Tuttle.
Mr. Clark moved to appoint Rebecca Tuttle to the Treasurer/Collector position. Mr. Becker seconded for discussion. Ms. Dibb read a letter from Mr. Letsky, who was not present, stating although a difficult decision, he feels Ms. Tuttle was best suited for the position.
Both candidates come highly qualified and none of the Board members had a clear choice either way at the beginning of the meeting. Some discussion on certifications. The Board feels that the Town will benefit significantly with either individual. After a very lengthy discussion, weighing pros and cons for each candidate, Mr. Becker stated that he could make no argument to change the motion. The Board voted unanimously to appoint Rebecca Tuttle.
Phone calls to each candidate will be made this evening to be followed up with letters. Ms. Tuttle will be invited in to discuss goals & objectives, salary, etc. at a future meeting. Thank you letters to the Search Committee will be sent as well.
