Board of Selectmen
Miles Road (Entrance to Rail Trail)
March 22, 2011
5 p.m.

Present:  Sheila H. Dibb – Chairman, Joseph R. Becker – Vice Chairman, Leroy C. Clark, Cherilyn A. Bulger, Michael S. Pantos – Clerk and Nancy M. Macaruso, Secretary.

Also present:  Gary Kellaher from Rutland DPW, Ed Yaglou from Wachusett Greenways, John Scannell from DCR, Bill Davis from Fish & Wildlife and Ken Strom, Engineer from Liston Associates.

All parties met in the DPW parking lot and proceeded to the entrance of the rail trail on Miles Road where a blocked culvert recently caused a water backup onto Miles Road.  Mr. Kellaher obtained a 90-day permit from Bill Davis (Fish & Wildlife) and hired a contractor to rectify the problem and gave a full description of the work that had been completed.  He further stated that the beaver problem in the area is being monitored.  The water is now flowing freely.

The group then proceeded to Pommogussett Road which is the site for the proposed rail trail tunnel.  Some discussion on the elevation, water collection, culvert location and flow patterns.

Mr. Pantos moved to adjourn.  Mr. Clark seconded.  Vote unanimous.  Meeting adjourned at 5:45 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Nancy M. Macaruso, Secretary
Board of Selectmen
