November 3, 2005

Chair Netishen opened the meeting at 8:04 AM.

Members present:  Bill Netishen, Mary Bonser, Peter Bock and Town Administrator Charles Brown.

Guests:  Police Chief Phil English

Mr. Netishen recognized Chief English.  Chief English gave the Board an explanation of the difference in holiday pay from last year’s budget to this year’s.  The days worked by each officer changes each year.  Also the number of hours may change from year to year.

Concerning the cruiser line, the Chief feels the request for an SUV is now warranted.  Mr. Bock stated because of SUV sales in recent months, if we go with this request we should get a great deal.  Ms. Bonser asked what kind of mileage this SUV would get as compared to regular cruisers.  Mr. Netishen asked about the possibility of purchasing a smaller vehicle. Chief English explained that smaller cars, other than the Ford Crown Victoria and Chevy Caprice are not available in Police packages.

Much discussion followed about equipment and gas.  Mr. Bock asked about mileage of new roads. Mr. Brown explained that the distance of recently approved roads is readily available but there are additional roads not yet approved by the Town that require police and Fire services.
Chief English explained road issues.
Mr. Netishen asked about prosecutor line and the training line. Chief English stated that using the county prosecutor has been cost effective.
Chief English explained the overtime and how it is affected by the inefficiencies of the court system. At this time there were no other questions regarding the Police Budget.

Motion:  Bonser, second Netishen to enter into non-public session per RSA 91-A:3II (a).
Vote:  3-0 in favor.











9:37 AM back to regular session.

Motion:  Netishen, second Bonser to keep all discussion non-public.
Vote:  3-0 in favor.

Having no further business before the Board,
9:40 AM   Motion:  Bonser, second Bock to adjourn.
Vote:  3-0 in favor.
