Newton Safety Complex Committee
Minutes of March 31, 2005
In attendance: Bob Bartlett, Chief Bill Ingalls, Chief Larry Street, John Ulcickas, Norm Harding, Rick Daniels, John Owens, Bob Donovan, Skip Merriam, Steve Palmer, Horace Williams, Eileen Patterson. The meeting took place at the Central Fire station.
The meeting was called to order at 6:15 PM.
Approval of the March 17, 2005 meeting minutes.
There was discussion on becoming a formal committee, with appointments made by the selectman, due to financial spending by the selectman. It was agreed that we should be a formal committee with a 3 year committement. The selectman will proceed with making that happen. All present expressed being part of the committee.
Land availability: only fact finding at this time.
New Business: Three architects made presentations of their companies and projects that they have built. Each architect presented about the process of hiring them and the cost of their services, what those services include, and answered questions asked by the committee.

Discussion followed about the presentations. We have scheduled three more architects to present on April 21, 2005 starting at 6 PM. After those architects have presented, the committee hopes to narrow down the selection, re-invite them back, and then make a choice of who to hire.

Next meeting date: April 21, 2005. The committee will meet at 5:45 PM, with the first architect to present at 6 PM. The meeting will be held at the Central Fire Station.
