PUBLIC MEETING MINUTES

  • Call to Order: DiMercurio called to order at 3:10pm
  • In Attendance:  Sue DiMercurio: Chairperson, Diane Morin: Secretary, Marilyn Landry: Member, Sarah Woodman: Member, Annie Collyer: Member
  • Approval of Minutes: DiMercurio motion to accept minutes from April 24, 2013.  Woodman seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
  • Scheduled Business:  
This work meeting was scheduled in order to release the nonpublic minutes dated April 24, 2013 in order to recommend to the Board of Selectmen the hiring of the swim aides and lifeguards.
  • Release of minutes from non-public meeting held on April 24, 2013:
  • DiMercurio motion to make public the minutes from the non-public session held on April 24, 2013.  Landry seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
April 24, 2013 Nonpublic Minutes released as follows;
  • Interviews
  • Sarah Paullis was interviewed for swim aid position.  She’s returning as a swim aid.  Her certifications have expired.  Drucker will contact her and inform her that she needs to be certified before we can move forward with recommendation to the Board of Selectmen.  She will be re-scheduled to May 8.
  • Emily Paullis was not available for this meeting and will be re-scheduled to May 22. She’s returning as a swim aid.
  • Ethan Johnson applied for a lifeguard position.  He has not completed the course but is expected to by May 22, 2013.  DiMercurio explained what was expected of him.  He had no questions.
DiMercurio made a motion to recommend to the Board of Selectmen, Ethan Johnson, for the position of lifeguard pending successful completion of certification at Grade V, Step 3 at an hourly rate of $9.63 not to exceed 30 hours a week.  Collyer seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
        
  • Lexy Clarkson applied for a swim aid position.  She has the necessary certifications and is a returning swim aid.  DiMercurio explained what was expected of her.  She had no questions.
DiMercurio made a motion to recommend to the Board of Selectmen, Lexy Clarkson, for the position of swim aid at a Grade of IV, Step 2 at an hourly rate of $8.95 not to exceed 30 hours a week.  Collyer seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
        
  • Elaina Desmarais applied for a lifeguard position.  She has all the necessary certifications and will make copies of them for our records.  DiMercurio explained what was expected of her.  Elaina stated she is available to work Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.  Drucker, the swim director, did not have any concerns with the number of days Elaina is available.
DiMercurio made a motion to recommend to the Board of Selectmen, Elaina Desmarais, for the position of lifeguard at a Grade of V, Step 2 at an hourly rate of $9.39 not to exceed 30 hours a week.  Collyer seconded and the motion passed unanimously.

  • Jackson Morton was unable to make the meeting.  He’s returning as a swim aid.  DiMercurio would like to recommend him as he was very dedicated last year. We need him to come in and fill out the contract.  Drucker will contact him to see when he is available to sign the contract.
  • Marissa Morton was unable to make the meeting and will be re-scheduled to May 8, 2013.
  • Ryan Burgos is applying for a lifeguard position.  He is not certified for waterfront but is willingly to take the test.  He will be scheduled for May 8
  • Caroline Babcock is applying for swim aid position.  She will be scheduled for May 8, 2013
  • Emily Luker would like to be hired as a lifeguard but does not have the necessary certifications.  Drucker has tried to make contact with her but has not been successful. Drucker will try again to make contact.
  • Adjournment: DiMercurio adjourned meeting at 3:15pm
