  • Approval of Minutes:
Minutes were read from past meeting.

Jennifer Klopotoski motioned to accept the Recreation Minutes dated August 10, 2011 as written.  Seconded by Matt Muskrat.  Vote:  Unanimous

  • Business Discussed:
Movie Night Review:

Jennifer Klopotoski let the board know how the first movie night went.  She informed the board that the night was a GREAT success.   We had approximately 75 attendees and she said all the children were really well behaved.  The popcorn was a big hit but the hot dog vender did not do so well.   She is suggesting that we do this again in September.  Discussion took place as to the date and the board has tentatively  scheduled the second movie night to take place on September 22, 2011 with a rain date of September 29, 2011.    Secretary DiMercurio will draft a letter asking local businesses to donate money to this event.  The board has also decided to charge .50 cents for a bag of popcorn to help offset the cost of this.  Water will still be free and hopefully this will drum up some other business for the hot dog vender.

Motion made by Matt Muskrat to aceept the second movie night (movie TBD) as above.  Vote:  Unanimous   Motion passed

Maintenance Contract:
Discussion took place on adding in some new items onto the existing maintenance contract.  We want the landscaper who gets the contract to maintain not only the Park but also the beach.  Secretary DiMercurio put in some suggestions and Matt Muskrat will rewrite for the recreation board’s approval.  Discussion took place about adding in “picking up trash at both spots”.  Selectmen Thayer asked if he could continue the job since he has been doing a good job but he knows and has informed  us that we will need to advertise for this position.  The Recreation Board will present the new maintenance contract to the BOS (with dollar figures attached) once it has been finalized.

        Park Ordinance Signe:
It has come to the boards attention that we already have two ordinance signs which are being stored in the concession building.  The board has decided to attach these signs to the gate surrounding the tennis courts;  one facing the basketball court and the other on the outfield fence by the flag pole.  We feel that in these positions everyone will be able to see the rules and regulations.
