Call to order
Chairman Rick Bailey called the meeting to order at 7:30 pm with the following members present: Rick Bailey, Nancy Slombo and Deb Holden. Minutes were recorded and transcribed by secretary/alternate, Lisa Babcock.

Bailey appointed alternate Lisa Babcock for the evening.

Memorial Day Parade
Bailey said that everything went well. $165.72 was spent on supplies.  There was discussion about having a citizen’s group to run the parade next year, hosted by a senior town official with support from the Recreation Commission.

Swim Program
Swim Director, Jon Holden was in attendance. He has advertised for lifeguards on Craig’s List. Mr. Holden said that he has 4 lifeguards to date but more lifeguards and swim aids are needed.  Bailey said he would put an ad in the paper.

Bailey said that the Commission would reimburse those that recently got certified if they submit receipts.

Bailey moved to approve the new swim registration form as modified by the Commission. Second by Slombo. Motion carried unanimously.

The secretary will submit the form for the web site and will make copies for registrations.

Contracts will need to be voted on at the next meeting. Mr. Holden will prepare the contracts. He will pick up a step & grade chart from Town Hall.

The Commission reviewed a list of policies prepared by Mr. Holden.  He will forward a copy via e-mail to the secretary and they will be submitted to the BOS for review.

It was noted that the beach needs clean-up.  Deb Holden will pick up some gardening supplies.

The Commission agreed to supply a bathing suit, a long or short-sleeve t-shirt (employee’s choice) and a whistle for each life guard and swim aid. Mr. Holden will supply quantities and sizes at the next meeting.

The Commission also inquired about Town spraying for mosquitoes at the beach and Greenie Park. Mr. Holden departed at 9:00 pm.

July Event – C. Malm Proposal
Bailey asked the secretary to contact the Town Administrator for input on the feasibility of holding an evening event in July at Greenie Park.
Summer Program Flyer
Deb Holden is working on the flyer.  The Beach Party date was changed to July 26th with a rain date of July 27th as the original date conflicted with the Kingston Days event.
Holden proposed holding a weekly arts & crafts session each Thursday from July 10th to August 14th at the Town Beach.  She is also looking into mini-golf and ice skating.

Slombo will look into getting the necessary items to install a volleyball net.

Bailey moved to purchase 50 water country tickets out of savings.  The existing tickets will be sold for $21 and the new tickets will be sold for $24 due to a price increase. Second by Slombo. Motion carried unanimously.

Holden is also looking into a week-long ½ day summer science camp.  Babcock will check with the Selectmen’s office to see if the Town Hall can be used for the camp for up to 25 children.  Another option could be the Horace Williams building.

Slombo moved to purchase 3 grills at $199 each for the Town Beach from New England Camp Discounter out of Town Beach Supplies by May 31st to be shipped to Holden’s house. Second by Bailey. Motion carried unanimously.

The secretary will see if a Town credit card can be used, otherwise, Holden will purchase them and put in for reimbursement.

Fisher Cats
The Commission discussed purchasing Fisher Cats tickets but decided not to pursue it at this time.
