Minutes

Call to order
Chairman Rick Bailey called the meeting to order at 7:45 PM with the following Commission members in attendance: Rick Bailey, Chairman; Nancy Slombo, Treasurer/Alternate; Theresa Gridley, Vice-Chair; Bob Donovan, BOS ex officio. Minutes were recorded by secretary, Lisa Babcock.

Bills
Nancy moved to pay $203.20 to Triangle for the Greenie Park chemical toilet, seconded by Rick. Motion passed unanimously.

Memorial Day Parade
Traditional Memorial Day is on May 30th, secretary will make the correction on the calendar and resubmit it to the webmaster.
Theresa will get the e-mail of the colonel to Rick.  Rick will contact him to get planning started for this year’s parade.
The Boy Scouts will serve refreshments again in the Horace Williams building after the parade.
Bob will contact the police and fire departments.
Nancy will order more flags if needed.

Greenie Park Update
Bob Morton of the Newton Baseball Fundraising Committee was in attendance.
Bob Donovan received preliminary estimates from S&R Construction on correcting the drainage problems along the roadway and parking area. The total cost estimate is $12,350 and includes: installing 2 catch basins, 6” perforated pipe encased in filter fabric with ¾ in. crushed stone, dry well and reshaping the road way and parking lot to pitch to the trench drain. Morton, Donovan and Bailey will make calls to see if they can get some of the materials for the project donated to defray costs. The Commission will make recommendations on the project when there is more information available.

Bob Morton then told the Commission about some drainage problems on the fields and requested approximately 18 yards of ¾ in. crushed stone to fill in problem areas along the dugouts and 3rd base line. Volunteers from Newton Baseball will do the work. Nancy moved to spend up to $500 for ¾ in. stone for Greenie Park ball fields (not roadway or parking lot issues); Theresa seconded. The motion passed unanimously.

Nancy will call Galloway and request that the crushed stone be delivered Friday and dumped near the dumpster.

Other Business
Rick motioned to approve the minutes for 2007, seconded by Nancy, motion passed unanimously.
Rick stated that the inventory will be completed as soon as the weather clears.
Secretary will contact Waste Management to inquire about getting locks put on the dumpsters at Greenie Park and the Town Beach.

Rick motioned to adjourn at 8:30 PM, 2nd Nancy Slombo, vote: unanimous.
