Gale Library Trustees Meeting Minutes

PLACE: Gale Library
TIME: 9:00 am.
CALL TO ORDER: 9:07 am
ROLL CALL: Sally Woodman, Chair; Carol Szot, Treasurer; Kathy Meserve, Secretary, Marilyn Landry, Alternate, Terry Caswell, Director.
SECRETARY’S REPORT: After a motion was made and seconded, it was voted to accept the minutes of the September 21, 2011 meeting as written.
CORRESPONDENCE AND COMMUNICATION: An article from the Lawrence Eagle Tribune about libraries was circulated. The new NHLTA Trustees Manuals were distributed. The Trustees signed a letter to the NH State Librarian regarding the proposed changes to the ILL van service
DIRECTOR’S REPORT: After a motion was made and seconded, it was voted to accept the director’s report as written.
TREASURER’S REPORT: After a motion was made and seconded, it was voted to accept the treasurer’s report as written. After a motion was made and seconded, it was voted to accept the cash donation of $7.20.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
- A preliminary budget was worked on. An additional work meeting on the budget was scheduled.
- Terry reports that the electrical inspector approved the new GFI outlet in the basement and found no problems in the electrical panel.
- Terry reports that the new windows were installed and then were inspected by the building inspector. The AC supports can be installed next spring.
- After a motion was made and seconded, it was voted to accept the Friends’ donation of the new library lawn sign and its installation. After a motion was made and seconded, it was voted to accept the Friends’ donation of the new library logo sign and its installation. The “No Idling” sign was purchased and will be installed by Michael Cote.
- The Town of Newton Social Media Policy Review was tabled until next month.
- Terry informed us that Town Hall will arrange for obtaining the Comcast DTA box for the television.
NEW BUSINESS:
- The Library Director’s annual evaluation was presented to her.
- After a motion was made and seconded, it was voted to submit a proposed warrant article regarding the library director gaining full-time status, which would include benefits.
- The Friends of the Gale Library will have their monthly meeting this Friday, October 14, 2011. They will sponsor a Halloween Party on Monday, October 31, 2011 from 5:30 – 8 pm.
- The Trustees reviewed and initialed the monthly invoices.
