SECRETARY’S REPORT: Read and accepted as written.
DIRECTOR’S REPORT: The figure for donations was changed to include
the January donations. The report was seconded and accepted.
TREASURER’S REPORT: A discussion on the revision of the financial report
was discussed. The report was then accepted.
COMMUNICATIONS and CORRESPONDANCE: Terry thanked the Trustees
for their letter of commendation relating to the help she and her family gave during the power outage.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS: Carol discussed the budget with Nancy Wrigley.
The budget hearing went well. Carol Szot went to the microphone to explain warrant articles 2 and 28. No questions were forthcoming from the audience.
In response to a request from the Safety Committee, Bill Landry printed out cards with names, addresses, and phone numbers of the board members. The cards were also given to all of us. Terry has already given the names of our contractors to the committee.
NEW BUSINESS: There were several suggestions from library patrons. One
suggested alphabetizing the DVD. This has been done. Another said the library, ‘rocks’. The third referred to a procedure already in place.
The pros and cons of purchasing the WII system were discussed.
Several other libraries have this game in place and have said it increased patronage. Terry said there was interest from the teens she has spoken with. After more discussion it was decided the system would be purchased and located in the children’s section upstairs in the library. Parameters were also discussed. There would be a limit on how many could be involved at one time, supervision would be provided, and specific hours for using the system would be set. The Trustee’s then voted to purchase the WII system, two remote controls, and the WII Fit program. Carol volunteered to do the actual buying. Donation money will be used to purchase this system.
The library has purchased two, “Kill A Watt Meters”, packets (Energy Measuring Devices) for our patrons use. The packet includes a meter, that when attached to an appliance, will measure the voltage use (how much power is being consumed). The packets also include instructions for usage. These packets are available for
anyone to buy at $23.01. Terry found them at, “amazon.com”.
The subject of closing the library for snow was addressed. It was decided that the library would close anytime the public schools were closed. Terry will write a policy entitled, “Library Closing Policy” and bring it to the March 4th meeting to be signed. It was also agreed that whoever was to work on that day would receive their wage for that time period. If the school’s announce a, ‘delayed opening’, the library will be open for it usual hours.
Marilyn showed us brochures from the Kingston library. We also had our brochure on hand. Topics such as added inclusions, changes, and even the physical design were covered.
The Friends of the Library will be having a bake sale during the March 10th election.
ADJOURNMENT: 11:35A.M.
Respectfully submitted,
Sally Woodman
Secretary
