Conservation Commission Draft Minutes for May 17, 2007

Alicia called the meeting to order at 7:40 pm
Minutes Review from May 3, 2007
Peter made a motion to except the minutes as presented. Sandy Seconded.
All in Favor. No Discussion.
Correspondence:
1. University of New Hampshire – Dept. of Recreation Management. Survey on NH Statewide Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan. Alicia read the survey orally, as committee members answered the questions together.
2. Workforce Housing Coalition of the Greater Seacoast invitation for workforce Housing and Land conservation Forum.
3. Copy of Ben Meadows Request for payment.
4. Copies of Intent to Cut Wood or Timber – Smith Corner Road
5. 2007 Budget Expenditures- Year to Date $678.21

12. Memo from the Town Clerk and Tax Collector.
13. Civil Construction Management, Inc. Regarding Gavin Subdivision- Maple Avenue, Newton NH. The installation of a drainage swale is required along the frontage of proposed lots 40-3 and 40-2. Existing trees and stonewall will be removed. Once swale is complete, the stonewall will be replaced at a lower grade in the same place. A variety of trees will also be replaced as shown on the plan. Commission has some concerns related to the drainage under Maple Avenue.
Busch Farms: 1. Due to the in climate weather, the annual Bio Monitoring Day has
been postponed to June 1, 2007.
2. Alicia had met with the second grade school teachers from Memorial Elementary School to discuss the Bio Monitoring Day agenda.
3. Fecal Chloroform will be pre-tested by Alicia before the Bio Monitoring Day is held. If there is a negative result, the second grade class will be able to test for themselves. However, if Alicia’s test proves positive the students will not take part in this test.
4. Last years Bus invoice has yet to be paid.
Trails: The entrance gate located on the Peanut trails is in need of reflective tape. Alicia
Made a motion to authorize Pat to purchase reflective tape spending up to $100.00. Peter Seconded. All in Favor.
Land Acquisition: Scott Botches is still interested in selling the Conservation Committee back land that abuts the Quaker Cemetery. Commission will contact Cemetery board to see how they feel about Scott creating an access road.
Wetland Cases: Nothing to report at this time.
Old Business: 1. Trisha will check to see if Bus has been paid for last years
Bio Monitoring Day.
New Business: 1. Pat made a motion to donate the committees telescope to the Memorial Elementary School, however with a stipulation of borrowing the telescope for each annual Bio Monitoring Day or when else needed. Peter Seconded. All in Favor.
Other Business: 1. Let Civil Construction Management know our decision on their
proposed design for the Gavin Subdivision on Maple Road.
2. 15 North Main Street complaint. Wondering about status of enforcement.
Peter made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 8:45pm. Tim Seconded. All in Favor.
