Open Space Committee - Minutes
April meeting - attended by Pete, Karl, Mary, Ken Clinton and Ken Lombard
OK!~ Its crunch time!
Pete reviewed the status of our Open Space Plan.~ Its now at the point where he NEEDS input from everyone, BEFORE the next meeting!~ Remember that we will be expected to understand and defend what is in there when others in town ask about it.~ If you find something that is questionable in your mind, we need to work that out NOW.
Please read the Plan as it currently exists, paying particular attention to Chapters 5 and 6.~ Get your feed back to Pete as soon as possible.
Pete, if there are recent changes, please send out a new copy.~ If the appendix is ready for review, send it too.
We discussed the status of the Lull Road property.~ Funding has been committed by the Open Space Committee, the Conservation Commission out of their expense budget, and the Russell Foundation.~ An offer has been made, but the owners raised their requested price.~ We are in a waiting status now.
Reviewed the status of the FRPP grants.~ Chancey is still waiting for an appraisal to be completed.~ Next we need to identify qualifying lands and owners who may be willing to put their property in conservation. Separately, I have asked Ian to help get us a soils map of the town that only shows the qualifying types.
We briefly reviewed where our current budget could get spent if some of the possible acquisitions happen.
