New Boston Forestry Committee
Minutes of Meeting – April 4, 2005

The meeting was called to order at 7:03 p.m.


Review of Minutes of January Meeting

The committee reviewed the minutes of the March 7, 2005 meeting. The minutes were accepted by unanimous approval.

Treasurers Report

Not provided

Review of Old Business:

·       Lydia Dodge West
o       Bob Todd reported that it is too wet to begin the planned patch cut. This will be on hold until the town lifts the road postings.

·       Yield Tax Consultant
o       Bob Todd drafted the requirements and responsibilities of the proposed Yield Tax Consultant. Kim submitted it to Burton Reynolds. Burton and the Selectmen requested that someone from the Forestry Committee present and discuss the proposal at the next Selectmen’s meeting on April 18th. Bob and Karl agreed to attend that meeting to discuss the proposal with the Selectmen.

·       Intent to Cut Lot 8-45
o       Kim called the owner of the lot, John Palmer, and asked him what part of the land the cut would take place on. Kim also emailed the Society for the Protection of NH Forests, who holds a conservation easement on the lot, to express various committee members’ concerns regarding potential erosion. The Society indicated to Kim that they were “on top of it”. The town assessing officer also called the State Forester to request oversight.

·       O’Rourke Lot / Black Gum Memorial
o       It was reported that the memorial is at a standstill with the Recreation Department and no further action has taken place on this.

·       Johnson Lot Boundary Plan
o       Bob has the plan in his office and will be submitting it shortly.

New Business

·       New Officers
o       It was agreed that officers for next term beginning fall of 2005 will be nominated at the May meeting and the election of those nominated will take place at the June meeting.

·       Permits to Cut”
o       There were two applications that were reviewed with no further comments.

·       New Members
o       Tom Lazott, a New Boston resident and licensed geologist attended the meeting and expressed interest in joining the Forestry Committee. He stated that he would call the town offices to request an application.

The meeting adjourned at approximately 7:55 p.m.
