TOWN OF MONTEREY
ICE STORM DEBRIS REMOVAL, INVITATION TO BID
The Town of Monterey, acting through the Board of Selectmen, invites sealed bids from contractors for the removal and disposal of ice storm debris(Hangers and leaners) from the right of way on Town Roads. The work to be performed is the removal of all hangers under the direction of the Director of Operations of the Town of Monterey and disposal in a FEMA approved manner. Debris may not be burned in the Town of Monterey.
Prices will be per tree limb(hanger) removed. There is approximately 225 hangers and leaners. Quantities are not guaranteed, only estimates. Bid specifications and copies of the prevailing wage rates are available on line at www.montereyma.gov or at the Monterey Town Hall.
Sealed bids from General Contractors, submitted on the proper forms and clearly marked “Hangers and Leaners, Removal and Disposal” shall be received at the Town of Monterey Town Hall, 435 Main Road, Monterey, MA, 01245 until Monday July 20, 2009 at 4:00pm. Sealed bids will be opened and read aloud by the Selectboard at 4:00pm Monday July 20, 2009.
A bid guaranty from the General contractor, in the amount of 5% of the bid amount, shall be included with the sealed bid in the form of a cash bid bond, certified check, treasurers or cashiers check of a bank or trust company doing business in Massachusetts and shall be made payable to the Town of Monterey. A 100% performance bond and a 100% Payment Bond will be required of the successful bidder within 10 days of Notice of Award.
This contract is subject to the provisions of Chapter 30, Section 39M of the MGL. Wages are subject to Massachusetts minimum wage rates under MGL chapter 149, Section 26 thru 27D. The contractor must agree to comply with all applicable Federal, State and Local statutes rules and regulations, including discrimination in employment.
The Selectboard reserves the right to accept or reject any and all bids, to waive any informality in the bids received and to accept the bid deemed to be in the best interest of the Town of Monterey. No bid shall be withdrawn within 30 days of bid opening.
