Bid Specs for 2007 Kenworth Cab & Chassis
TOWN OF MONTEREY


SPECIFICATIONS FOR BODY, SANDER, PLOWFRAME, SNOWPLOW, AND RELATED EQUIPMENT FOR 2007 KENWORTH CAB AND CHASSIS.

GENERAL:
The following are minimum specifications with the intent to describe a proven municipal vehicle that will provide heavy duty use as a winter snow fighting truck as well as a support truck for the rest of the year that can haul various materials such as gravel and stone.

        Vendor shall have been a dealer for the brands being bid for a minimum of 10 years.
        All items in specifications shall be furnished, installed, and delivered with unit.
        Truck shall be delivered with all equipment and to be calibrated at the Town of Monterey Highway Department. Plow to be set up and ready to use.
        All controls shall be ergonomically placed for driver’s comfort, convenience and ease of use, and approved by the Director of Operations.
        Bidder shall be responsible for all warranty issues. Warranty shall be a minimum of one year against defects in materials and workmanship.
        Bidder shall make every effort to deliver Unit in a reasonable time period from the date of acceptance of bid by the Town of Monterey and delivered complete, no later than November 15, 2008.
        All equipment shall be new and of the latest design.
        All bids shall be valid for 30 days from bid opening date.
        Any item necessary to make a fully operational and functional unit shall be included even if specifically not mentioned.
        Unit shall meet all State and Federal rules and regulations.
        Parts and service shall be readily available from bidder.
        Any wiring and connections shall be sealed, protected, enclosed from moisture, salt, heat and abrasion..
        Any deviations to the Towns minimum specifications shall be listed on a separate sheet of paper included with all bids or the Statement that we take no exceptions to the bid specifications.

BODY:
        Dump body to be a minimum 10 ft. long to fit 90 inch cab to axle.
        30 inch side height with 38 inch tailgate.
        Hoist shall be an underbody twin arm UB 8-21, Class 60 with 24.05 ton lift capacity with this configuration.  
        Floor shall be not less than 3/16” AR400 steel. 4 inch side to floor radius
        Sides and Headsheet shall be not less than 7 gauge Grade 50
        Side bracing shall be single weld on brace
        Six Panel tailgate with heavy duty offset hardware. All Dirt shedding braces.
        Air pancake type tailgate latch.
        40 inch x 78 inch cabshield.
        Ladder left front corner with steps and grab handle, design approved by Director of Operations
        Unibody design, no crossmembers, low mounting height
        8 inch I beam longitudinals
        4 inch structural channel subframe for hoist
        12 inch mounting height.
        Full height front corner posts with 2” side board pockets.
        One intermediate horizontal side brace each side-dirt shedding sloped.
        5 ¾” x 12” full depth rear corner posts tied to an 8” structural channel rear apron
        Head sheet shall have top and center brace boxed.
        Boxed Toprail, center brace and rub rails shall all be sloped type, dirt shedder.
        Double acting tailgate shall have full perimeter boxed braces and lower hardware shall have ¼” thick reinforcing plates both sides.
        Rear hinge 6” x 4” x 3/8” structural angle with stainless steel 1 ½” diameter pins connected through  2 ½” hinge blocks with composite bushings.  
        All pivot points shall have greaseless composite bushings with 303 stainless steel pins.
        LED stop, turn, tail-lights, installed in oval holes in corner posts.
        Two Amber oval strobe lights in rear corner posts.
        Two Amber oval strobe lights in steel boxes cut into cabshield at 45 degree angle with 90 watt changeable flash pattern, switch mounted in cab. All wiring shall be heavy duty DOT type with Deutsch connectors.
        BODY SHALL BE INSTALLED SO IT CAN BE REMOVED SEASONALLY.
        Aero asphalt type coverall model 575 to match Towns existing aero coveralls, direct drive, mounted low and forward. Wiring in sealed conduit and protected.
        Body raise alarm with light and buzzer. Back up alarm.
        Body painted black, subframe black
        Lifetime full plastic fenders with rear mud flaps mounted to truck frame.
        Two 50 watt clear white back up lights mounted to frame with switch in cab, placement approved by Director of Operations

SANDER
        Henderson FSH II custom 10 ft. hopper with 62 inch sides, 8.3 cu. Yds. Capacity with construction made of 304 stainless steel no exceptions. Weight 2262 lbs. empty     
        Inside top width 84 inches.
        50:1 gearbox drive with 8 tooth cast iron sprockets no exception.
        4 inch spring loaded idlers.
        Formed in chain shields
        7 gauge replaceable floor
        7 gauge long sills with quick detachment from truck chassis.
        24 inch wide conveyor with ¼” x 1 ½” crossflights on 4.5 inch centers, Pintle type.
        Screwjack type feedgate on curb side.
        45 degree side slope. 20 inch Poly spinner disc.
        Telescopic spinner chute for disc adjustment 29”-38” below mounting height.
        Three external adjustable deflectors and one fixed front deflector with overlapping corners.
        Chassis mounting kit shall be easily removable for seasonal changes. Springs in front.
        Extra heavy duty top screens with 2: x ¼” flat steel with 3/8” woven rods.
        Rear 84” x 13” angled 10 gauge 304 stainless steel deflector for top of sander.
        Front 22” long cabshield for 64-70 inch height cab
        Folding stainless steel ladder, 86” long, 37” folded, 16” wide, 1 ½” grip strut 6- rungs.
        Stainless steel rear light bar, boxed, to be bolted to back of sander. Two side clearance lights, two stop, turn, tail-lights wired through truck system, three light ICC cluster, all lights shall be LED type, two amber oval strobe lights with long extensions and deutsch connectors.
        Two 50 watt clear white back up lights mounted on sander, placement and type approved by Director of Operations, with switch in cab
        9 degree rear slope panel, 18 degree front slope.
        Lift hooks at each corner ¼” x 2” stainless.
        Top mounted spinner motor.
        5” I beam  for screens to hinge to.

PLOW FRAME
        Full size and height to fit stationary grille.
        Bumper mount or frames not specifically for vehicle are not acceptable.
        Frame shall be manufactured by recognized major plow frame manufacture.  
        Custom side plates made of ½” thick steel and  extend back as far back as possible.
        Drawing or frame must be shown prior to bid to be acceptable.
        Custom aluminum brackets mounted to sides of fiberglass tilt hood with plow lights hooked up to truck wiring with switch for truck lights or plow lights.


PLOW
        American, MC960RR85 with swivel bar

PLOW ATTACHMENT
        Approved prior to bid, Specific pin lock female on plow frame with male on swivel bar.
        Female section shall pin to two ears per side on truck plow frame.

GROUND SPEED COMPUTER
        Dickey-john granular Control Point, radio frequency type complete with application rate sensor. Unit shall match those in use by Town presently. All calibration shall be done with the town’s personnel,  with towns material. Unit shall be able to down load wireless to towns computer.

HYDRAULICS
        Front mounted direct drive off engine, Rexroth A10V071 series pump, load sense and pressure compensating pump and valves. Low oil shut down with over-ride system in cab with lights and switch. Valves shall be MP4 for raise/lower, angle, body, conveyor and spinner. Quadco cab levers and cablecraft cables. Valves shall be mounted in enclosed stainless housing, filter, reservoir, sight guage, shut off valve, pipe type lines to rear with quick disconnects for sander per towns approval. Quick disconnect system for sander and dump body.

MISC.
        Whelan Mini Edge to be permantly mounted to top of cab. Switch in Cab. Two forward white strobes and 2 forward amber strobes, switched separately.
        “Onspot” automatic tire chains to be installed per manufacturer
Specifications.
        Road Watch ground temperature system installed
