Transfer Station Study Committee Minutes 2006/06/21
Minutes of Transfer Station Committee Meeting   --  June 21st 2006 10:30 a.m.

In Attendance:  Steve Maddock, Cynthia Bognolo, Pete MacDonald, Marya Klee, Simon Carr.
Apologies:      Pete Bleyler, Charles Ragan, Al Pryor, Katie Jenks

1.      Operation:
a.      The LCS does not carry sufficient pink cards to service the requirements each week.  Steve is currently carrying a stock of these each week and selling them as necessary.
b.      Bargain Barn:  We had not had information from Charles on his discussions with Darlene regarding this separating of recyclables.

2.      Compactor:
a.      It was understood that the Selectboard had determined that they could allocate the funds voted for the Salt shed and compactor as they wished.  There was concern over the possibility that, subject to agreement of a suitable plan, we were ready to go with the installation of the compactor (and the potential operational savings), but would be held until after the Highway Committee had determined whether they would be able to construct the salt shed.
b.      Simon had prepared a further plan including the compactor within a revised fenced area, together with a shed for attendants.  This enabled a directional flow, with public dropping their MSW in the compactor and then pulling forward into a parking area to drop off their recyclables.  This will be submitted to the Selectboard at the meeting scheduled for Wednesday June 28th.

3.      Meeting with Selectboard:  The issues to be discussed were the revised plan, the revisions to the committee charge and the interim regulations.

4.      Hazardous Waste Days:  The town had not received a grant towards hazardous waste disposal costs.  In view of this the BOS had decided to cut back to a single hazardous waste day, scheduled this year for September 9th.

5.      Next meeting:  The next meeting will be Wednesday July 5th 2006 10.30 a.m. at Lyme Fire Station Meeting Room.

Respectfully submitted
Simon Carr, scribe
