Transfer Station Study Committee Minutes 2004/09/30
Minutes of Transfer Station Committee Meeting   --  September 30, 2004 10:30 a.m.

In Attendance:  Steve Maddock, Pete Bleyler, Marya Klee, Simon Carr, Pete MacDonald.
Apologies:      Cynthia Bagnolo,  Al Pryor

1.      The 30cu.yd. and 40cu.yd. containers are now on order and are expected in about three weeks.  These effectively use up our $10,000 and we shall have to wait for the next meeting of New Hampshire the Beautiful to see if we get a grant for the third container.

2.      Steve and Al visited Whitcher’s operation in Warren.  They run three packers, three container trucks and an 18-wheeler.  They already take the MSW from Warren and, via Pete’s, the MSW from Haverill.  It is all transshipped at their base from the packers to the 18-wheeler for hauling to Mount Carberry.  They would also haul our C&D and glass but as they do not have an out-of-state license they could only haul glass to New London.  Steve will check on Whitcher’s record with the Town of Warren and ,if acceptable, will propose to the Selectboard that we switch to Whitcher

3.      Operation:
a.      Prior to the changeover of contractors, we need to ensure that the junk behind the containers is cleared.  It is intended that Casella remove their containers on October 14 and NRRA bring theirs in on October 15.
b.      New Traffic Flow:  the operation last Sunday, with the police chief checking  cars and Elise directing vehicles at the new packer location worked well.  There were 400+ vehicles using the transfer station.

4.      The was a discussion on budgeting.  We should prepare a discussion document.

5.      Next meeting:  10:30 a.m. Wednesday 13th October.   It was agreed that future meetings would be 2nd and 4th Wednesdays at10:30a.m.
