Minutes of Transfer Station Committee -- December 4, 2003 5.00p.m.
In Attendance: Steve Maddock, Pete Bleyler, Simon Carr, Al Pryor
1. Peter Bleyler confirmed that we had rejoined NRRA.
2. Following Judy Brotman’s presentation of the new garage, it appeared that the transfer station would be able to co-exist on the garage site for two years or so. As such, our focus should now be on determining the best future set-up for the transfer station. The Budget Committee has included $25,000 for consultancy and planning next year.
3. Al presented a summary of Piermont’s recycling methods, together with the basics of using NRRA for our recycling. It appeared that we should achieve some significant savings compared to the present arrangements. Al will follow this through with Bonnie Koch of NRRA. Changing to NRRA could begin before we had established the new transfer station.
4. Pete Bleyler noted that the committee’s remit had officially expired and that he would raise this at the next Selectmen’s meeting.
5. We should start gathering further information and visit other transfer stations. Al will start investigating suitable sites.
6. Next meeting: Steve, Pete and Simon will attend the Planning Board meeting at 7.40p.m. Thursday, December 11th to discuss the Jenks’s pit. The next transfer station meeting will be 5.00 Thursday, December 18th.
