Transfer Station Study Committee Minutes 2003/10/15
Minutes of Transfer Station Committee   -- October 15, 2003 4.00p.m.

In Attendance:  Steve Maddock, Ellen Barrett, Al Pryor, Pete MacDonald, Simon Carr

The meeting made site visits to Jimmy Jenks’s pit and Pete Dayton’s land on Route 10.
1.      Jimmy Jenks’s Pit.  Approximately 10 acres and could be easily graded to accommodate roll-ons at a lower level from the public access. It is larger than necessary for a transfer station.  It was reasonably easy to see why the assessor had come up with a high valuation, although it is not clear whether it would comply with the subdivision regulations.

2.      Pete Dayton’s land on Route 10. Approximately 17 acres. This is north of the intersection of Goose Pond Rd and Route 10.  Access is only possible from Route 10 and entry/exit of vehicles especially trucks would be difficult.  The land is initially flat and then slopes up moderately.  There is an old logging road.  The site would require significant regrading.

3.      We should get professional advice both on Transfer station design and recycling possibilities. To this end, Al will contact NHRRA to obtain advice from them.

4.      We should continue to pursue siting options, both at Jenk’s pit and on the garage site.

5.      Next meeting: Thursday October 23rd  5.00p.m. at Town Offices.
