TOWN OF LYME
Town Offices Building Committee
January 23, 2006
MINUTES

Attending:  Peter A. Bleyler, Chair, Letitia (Tish) Smith, Tony Pippin Sr., and Carole A. Bont, Administrative Assistant.

Pete Bleyler called the meeting to order at 11:35 AM at the Fire House.  The committee reviewed and edited the draft letter prepared by Don Metz and e-mailed to the members of the committee.  The purpose of the letter is to inform the public about the crowding in the town offices and the pressing environmental issues and to solicit some input about a solution.  After some discussion, the committee members agreed to send out the letter two weeks before Little Town Meeting.  The topic will be broached at Little Town Meeting on March 7, 2006.  A public hearing will be scheduled for shortly after Town Meeting – perhaps March 21, 2006.  Pete will edit the letter.  The committee members will work together to do the mailing.  Carole will find out what the cost of the mailing to postal patrons will be.  Carole will see if Elise could put the notice on the town website.

The committee also discussed Mark Shamon of URS Corporation’s recommendation that we budget $35,000 for the space analysis and schematics.  Carole will call Mark Shamon and get a written proposal of what we could get exactly for $35,000 or what we could get for $25,000.  How does it work if we get vacant land versus renovating?

Pete Bleyler will be away for the next two Mondays.  Carole will call the next meeting when she gets a written proposal from Mark Shamon.

The meeting adjourned at 12:25 PM.
Respectfully submitted,
