1. Presentation- Citizens for Strong Schools request- Half Cent Sales Tax
Ms. Jackie Johnson gave a presentation on the half cent sales tax and the proposed projects that would be done at Shell Elementary and Hawthorne High School with the money raised if this tax is passed.

Mr. Wallace Russell- This Sunday at 11AM Community Worship Service in the city park.
Mr. Larry Tilbury- Would like to commend City Manager Vause, Mayor Surrency and Commissioner Floyd for helping with the broken water line in Lake Breeze.

2. Resolution- Invalidation of Odom Ordinance
Moved to adopt the resolution memorializing that Ordinance 2018-17 is a nullity.

3. City of Hawthorne Economic Development Ad Valorem Tax Exemption
Moved to direct staff to prepare the necessary language for a question in a referendum to authorize the city to adopt an ordinance for economic development ad valorem tax exemptions to new business and expansions of existing businesses.

4. FDEP State Revolving Fund Grant/Loan application
Moved to direct staff to prepare an ordinance for utility rate increase of 2.4% as indicated by the August 2018 CPI.

5. Hawthorne Charitable Event
The City Commission decided it would be best if Mr. Ballard and Ms. Valdes donate several turkeys to each church in the area and let the church distribute them to those in need. By doing it this way everyone in the city and community will be pleased.

H. DISCUSSION ITEMS
City Manager Vause said she is seeking direction on the Legislative Agenda. The City Commission suggested using the same outline as last year.

1. City Manager Vause gave her City Manager’s report.
2. City Attorney Hoehn shared a memo from the County Attorney on free online ethic courses.

Commissioner Roberts-Cheatham gave an update on the Super Seniors events that is coming up.
Commissioner Bouie- Thank you to staff for helping with a water issue at her home.
Vice Mayor Howard- No report
4. Mayor Surrency gave an update on Hawthorne football team and announced we are still collecting items for Hurricane Michael victims.
