D. ~COMMITTEE REPORTS/PRESENTATIONS/PROCLAMATIONS
1.  Presentation- Alachua County Coalition on Tobacco
A presentation was given showing Alachua County Coalition trying to increase the purchase age of tobacco to 21.  The City Commission
2.  FDOT Presentation
A presentation given by FDOT showing the proposed change of location for the train track crossing on the south side of town.  The proposed location is to move it to SE 221 Street and SE 71 Avenue.  The City Commission informed staff to get with FDOT to move forward with the process.
3.  Presentation- Florida Rural Water Sewer Rate Study
A presentation was given by Florida Rural Water Association showing the current water and sewer rates and their recommendations based on their findings.
4.  Proclamation- Public Education
A presentation was given to show why education is important.

4.  Hawthorne Community Center
The City Commission agreed to schedule a workshop on September 6, 2018 at 5:00PM.

5. HYS uniform money
HYS has fallen short of $1500 for football uniforms and is asking the city for help.
Moved to take $1500 out of park and recreation budget to help HYS for football uniforms.

Moved to amend the motion to add receipts must be provided to the city by HYS.

J. ~REPORTS/ANNOUNCEMENTS/INFORMATION
1. City Manager Vause gave her City Manager’s report.  Also informed the City Commission that Hawthorne is hosting the Alachua County League of Cities at city hall next Tuesday at 6PM.

Commissioner Floyd- No report
Commissioner Roberts-Floyd- Seniors chair exercise class moved to the Methodist Church on Tuesday August 28, 2018.
Commissioner Bouie- Thank you to the city.  She really enjoyed attending the FLC event.
Vice Mayor Howard- Really enjoyed attending the FLC event as well.
4. Mayor Surrency- FLC event was well represented by the City of Hawthorne.  Had great discussions.  No school grade yet.  HHS open house on September 13 at 5:30PM.  FFA fish dinner tickets $8.  Football team first game Friday in Interlachen.
