WELCOME
- Chair Mike Byerly and Mayor Matthew Surrency made opening and welcoming remarks.
- Follow up on Fire Station Program: Alachua County Fire Rescue Chief Bailey reported that staff had worked with engineers to get estimates of cost of require renovations and that a draft contract has been completed for Station 25 to move into Hawthorne, as well as a draft agreement for the City to give the County ownership of the property. County Facilities Manager Charlie Jackson reported that the estimate for repairs is $750,000-$800,000. Chair Byerly asked if it needed to be a budget amendment, and Chief Bailey reported that the funds were already set aside in the MSTU.
Moved to Commit to move the Grove Park Fire Station to Hawthorne with ownership of the Hawthorne fire department.

- Transportation Surtax: Commissioner Hutchinson provided an update about the surtax, and that the County would be addressing the issue more in late June to see if they would push for another surtax initiative or develop a volunteer group to push for donations. The County recommended the City polish and reviews its list of roads in need of repair to present it again to the county at a later date. The County Commission also requested that citizens and commissioners attend the June 4th County Commission Meeting to voice support of the surtax. Commissioner Baird commended the Mayor on his comments at the recent summit regarding this. Gainesville Commissioner Hawkins discussed the importance of collaboration and that details are important, and the preparing and creating awareness early.
- MTPO Listening Tour: Chair Byerly stated that this item had been covered in the discussion of the previous item.
- County Road 2082 Conditions: Staff reported that storm water is a big issue with debris and leaves going on to the street. Dave Cerlanek a County Engineer shared that they would be putting in work orders to do some work on the road and at any time anyone could call his staff to place a work order for issues regarding 2082. The Mayor asked if the County had plans or ideas where the storm water flows from. Dave Cerlanek reported that they would look into that.
- Economic Development: The Mayor shared the importance of working together and shared about some of the projects happening in Hawthorne: Plum Creek, Brownfield’s, Little Orange Creek Nature Park, Rural Area of Economic Concern designation. The City Commission and staff shared their appreciation of the partnership between the City and County on many different levels. Commissioner Roberts Shared about Hawthorne Life Enrichment Center. Commissioner Hutchinson asked about bike trails to Palatka. City Manager reported regarding the FDOT plans and the transportation enhancement grant.
COMMISSION GENERAL AND INFORMAL DISCUSSION
The Mayor shared about the Homecoming event.
Chair Byerly asked about the old house on SR 20, an update was provided to him that it has been torn down.

Ms. Vivian Wagner shared about seniors needs in Hawthorne.
