Stephen Griffin- Take Stock in Children- Looking for mentors for HMHS. The children must have a 2.5 GPA and be on free/reduced lunch and need 3 teacher recommendations. They will meet with their adult mentor once a week.

2. Nuisance Abatement at 21815 SE 71st Avenue
City Attorney Hoehn- According to the City’s newly adopted Nuisance Abatement Code there is a two step process to declare a condition a public nuisance. Tonight is the first step in the process by deciding to adopt a Resolution declaring the condition on the property a threat and issues a Order to Show Cause which is sent to the property owner telling them they must appear at an upcoming hearing to defend themselves.
City Attorney Hoehn read the Resolution by title only.
Moved to adopt the Resolution declaring condition a threat and issuing show cause order.

3. Boundary Adjustment Act
City Manager Vause- The ACLC has asked the City of Hawthorne to support in joining other counties by repealing the Boundary Adjustment Act. Mayor Gib Coerper of Alachua is here to answer any questions the Commission may have.
Moved to approve the support for the Alachua County League of Cities and authorize the Mayor to sign the ACLC Resolution.

H. DISCUSSION
1. Alachua County Legislative Delegation Hearing Date
City Manager Vause- Delegation Hearing for Alachua County has been scheduled for Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at 1:00PM. The hearing will be at Santa Fe College Kirkpatrick Center located at 3737 NE 39th Avenue Gainesville, FL 32609. Will bring this item at the November 19, 2013 City Commission Meeting to discuss the City’s list for the hearing.

J. REPORTS/ANNOUNCEMENTS/INFORMATION
1. City Manager gave an update on FDOT, St. Paul Cemetery, CSX, ACFR, Lindsey Phillips Park, HAP, WWTP and Staff.

3. Commissioners
A. Commissioner Roberts- Super Seniors Meeting will be at City Hall tomorrow at 11:00AM. Will get a free flu shot by Walgreens if needed. Regional Planning has no meeting in November. Super Seniors are asking the City Commission to host the lunch at the December 4, 2013 Senior Meeting. All Commissioners agreed.
B. Commissioner Carlton- None
C. Commissioner Bouie- Attended the funeral for Ms. Clovis Watson Jr. Mother and Sister to represent the City of Hawthorne.
D. Vice Mayor Howard- None
4. Mayor Surrency- Award Ceremony at Shell Elementary tomorrow. College Classes will begin at HMHS in January 2014. The Halloween Chamber was well attended. The Chamber Christmas Festival is December 14, 2013 at 3PM. Ms. Vivian Wagner 91st Birthday is November 9, 2013 at the First Baptist Church. Would like to nominate Ms. Heather Surrency for Citizen of the month for the month of December.
