City Manager Vause- There is not an election this year because the incumbents were unopposed

3.  Resolution- Pump Purchase
City Manager Vause- Numerous city lift stations for the city wide sewer system need one of more pumps replaced or repaired.  A loan from M&S Bank for the cost of the replacements or repairs has been obtained.  The total cost to replace or repair all the lift station pumps are $54,336.01.

Moved to approve the Resolution for the pump, auto dialer and repair recommendations by staff for the listed lift stations for $54,336.01.

4.  ACBOCC Interlocal Agreement ¾ cent surtax
This item was removed and will be discussed at the joint meeting on May 15, 2012.

5.  ACBOCC Planning Services Interlocal Agreement FY 2001-2012
City Manager Vause- Staff recommends executing the agreement for Planning Services for FY 2011-12 with Alachua County Board of County Commission.  This arrangement is for part time planning services.

The City Commission continued this discussion.

Moved to adopt the resolution authorizing execution of this agreement with ACBOCC Growth Management Department for Planning Services.

G.  PUBLIC HEARING
1. SECOND HEARING- None
2. FIRST READING- None

H.  DISCUSSION
1.  Lindsey Phillips Park Gate
Park & Rec. Director Wynkoop- Mr. Donnie Pearson our volunteer at Lindsey Phillips Park turned in his keys and does not want to volunteer for opening and closing the park anymore.  Staff would like to use Wild Spaces Public Places money to put in an electric gate with an exit loop inside the park.

The City Commission continued this discussion.

The City Commission agreed to direct staff to look at other alternatives and get an updated bid for an electric gate.

2.  Cemetery Association Committee
City Manager Vause- We still need volunteers to serve of the Cemetery Committee.

I.  CITIZEN COMMENTS- None

J.  REPORT
City Manager Vause gave an update on the audit, Alachua County Economic Development, Little Orange Creek Nature Park, Public Works Dept, Alachua Today newspaper, Fire House Roof contract, Burn Regulations, Maxwell House, and Pump replacements.

City Attorney- None

Commissioner Randall- Look forward to serving on the City Commission the next 2 years.

Commissioner Carlton- Had a 6 month budget review workshop today and it was a good workshop.  The city is in much better shape.

Vice Mayor Howard- Hawthorne Senior Citizens is going a road trip to Melrose, Fl and from there to Lake Walberg.

Mayor Surrency- June 28-30 is the Hawthorne 80th Homecoming Celebration.  The committee is asking the City Commissioners to participate in the parade on Saturday.  The Alachua County Housing Authority is partnering with the City of Hawthorne to fix up Pleasant Gardens.
