Chair, Lucy Wallace, called the meeting to order at 7:30 P.M. in the Town Hall Meeting Room.

 

UNION CONTRACTS – DPW & DISPATCH – Tim Bragan informed the Board that both the DPW and the Dispatchers have come to an agreement with regards to their respective collective bargaining agreements.  He explained that they both agreed on a 3% COLA for FY08 and 2 ½% COLA for FY09; and the Paid Time Off (PTO) system.  However, the Dispatchers settled at 80% (town), 20% (employee) health insurance split, whereas, the DPW settled at 75% (town),25% (employee) health insurance  split.  Tim Bragan further summarized the contracts  with the two unions, and informed the Boardof some of the other items in the contracts which changed, such as  $2300/year clothing allowance for DPW, and a $800/year clothing allowance for the Dispatchers, and a $600 shift differential for the Dispatchers, as well.   Tim Bragan also reported that the Police union has approached him about the potential of the Police converting to the PTO system, as well.  The Board asked questions of Mr. Bragan with regard to the contracts.  On a Dean/Clark motion, the Board voted unanimously to approve the dispatch contract.  On a Dean/Clark motion, the Board voted unanimously to approve the DPW contract. 

 

APPOINTMENT – TRANSFER STATION ATTENDANTS – DPW Director, Rich Nota, was in attendance and explained to the Board that he’s completed the recruitment process in search of new Transfer Station attendants.  Six applications were received, whom he interviewed and he is recommending that James Holmes, of Groton, and Patrick Scullane, of Ayer, be appointed to fill the vacant positions.  On a Dean/Clark motion, the Board voted unanimously to appoint James Holmes and Patrick Scullane as Transfer Station Attendants, pending the successful completion of pre-employment physicals.

 

The meeting was adjourned at 7:35 P.M. for a meeting with the Finance and School Committees.
