AGRICULTURAL COMMISSION
MINUTES
August 11, 2009
PRESENT: Michelle Neidermeyer, Chairman; Stephen Hayes, Ann Wilhelm
ABSENT: Jason Bogli, Don Butler, Stanley Hayes
GUESTS: Bill Bentley, Bob Brockett, Lisa Dinsmoore, Roger Dinsmoore, Dan Fitzpatrick, Sam Hammer, Jim Lofink, Eric Lukingbeal, Kevin Riggott
As there was not a quorum, Chairman Neidermeyer cancelled the meeting.
Notes:
- Eric Lukingbeal, President of the Board of Directors of Holcomb Farm, announced they have been working on a new Strategic Plan for the past eight months with the assistance of a grant from the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving.
- Jim Lofink gave a brief PowerPoint presentation on the plan thus far, which is still in draft form.
- The main mission is to preserve the property and serve Granby and the greater Hartford region. This will be done through production, education and outreach and engagement of the community.
- The Agricultural Commission and Holcomb Farm would like to continue communication and the two groups agreed to meet quarterly.
- Mr. Brockett from the Grange wanted to make both groups aware that the Grange does a lot of legislative work regarding farms/agriculture in the State.
The next meeting will be held on Thursday, September 10, 2009 at 8:00 p.m.
