BOARD OF SELECTMEN MEETING MINUTES
Memorial Town Hall
Third Floor Meeting Room

Selectmen Present:      Philip Trapani, Chairman; Evan O’Reilly; C. David Surface

Others Present: Michael Farrell, Interim Town Administrator; Thom Berube,  Dave Bogdan Assessors; Jay Ferreira, Assistant Assessor

Absent: Gary Fowler; Stephen Smith, Clerk; Janet Pantano, Administrative Assistant

Call to Order
Mr. Trapani called the meeting to order at 7:03PM.  

Mr. Trapani opened the continued Public Hearing on Tax Classification.

Mr. Berube explained the votes needed by the Selectmen and the recommended votes of the Assessors.

1. Open Space Discount

Mr. O’Reilly moved to set an Open Space Assessment.  Mr. Surface seconded the motion and the motion was not approved by a unanimous vote.

2.  Residential Exemption

Mr. O’Reilly moved to establish a Residential Exemption.  Mr. Surface seconded the motion and the motion was not approved by a unanimous vote.

3. Small Commercial Exemption

Mr. O’Reilly moved to accept the Small Commercial Exemption.  Mr. Surface seconded the motion and the motion was not approved by a unanimous vote.

4. Classification

Mr. O’Reilly moved to recommend a Tax Classification factor of one.  Mr. Surface seconded the motion and the motion was approved by a unanimous vote.

Mr. Berube asked the board to sign off on the page for the DoR.  Board signed the document.  Mr. Berube stated that they are close to sending out the third quarter tax bills.  He stated that the last piece of the puzzle is to have new growth certified and the LA13 is eminent.  He stated that Munis is now coming in on Monday, December 21 and this is the deadline to get the tax bills out on time.  He stated that there were three options 1. Send tax bill out on time  2. Send out a preliminary tax bill  3. Legislation is passed and they are allowed to send out the tax bills late.

Mr. Surface stated that he would find out tomorrow if the Bill to extend the mailing of tax bill is approved.

Mr. Trapani closed the Public Hearing.  

Mr. O’Reilly moved to adjourn.  Mr. Surface seconded the motion and the motion was approved by a unanimous vote.
