Ted Kottcamp called the meeting to order at 7:30 AM
We opened the discussion with a review of the Economic Development Committee Strategic Plan Goals & Objectives. The “Strategies/Objectives” were summarized and the Committee worked to prioritize the objectives into short-term & long-term projects with proposed action items. Action items for only short-term objectives were completed within the meeting period. The results are outlined as follows:
Short-Term Objectives (3~6 months):
1. Business Retention & Attraction
2. Community & Member Relations
Action Items:
1. Information collection & dissemination
a. Develop business guide/directory (Derek)
b. Set-up GEDC email account/address (Ted)
c. Create GEDC Member business cards (Ted)
2. Assistance for existing, expanding, & new business development
a. Set-up meeting between GEDC & business community in mid-June
i. Proposed venue Georgetown Club (Ted)
ii. Design & send invitations (All)
iii. Identify potential guest speaker from Merrimack Valley Chamber or other assoc. (Tillie)
b. Investigate potential tax incentives (Tillie)
3. Investment attraction
a. Comparison of Georgetown vs. surrounding communities (Tillie)
Mid-Term Objectives (6~12 months):
1. Human Resource Development
a. Labor market retention & growth
b. Ensure availability of affordable housing
2. Land Base & Sustainable Environment
a. Environmental impact studies
Long-Term Objectives (>12 months):
1. Infrastructure
a. Cultural & recreational land-use analysis
b. Business revitalization
c. Community funding
2. Economic Diversification
a. Analysis of non-residential land use prototypes
