Ordinance to amend the Zoning and Site Plan Review Ordinance's definition of farming in the Farm and Forest District to include commercial greenhouses.

A public comment period will not be included with this item because a public hearing was held regarding this matter at an earlier date.

ACTION: Council action is anticipated.

Summary:

Staff requested that the Council consider an amendment to the definition of Farming to allow commercial greenhouses in the Farm and Forest District. The ordinance currently excludes them, prohibiting commercial greenhouses anywhere in town except as part of a nursery in the Village Center Districts. Attached is an introduction letter, a memo to Councilor Pierce from Community Development Director Amanda Stearns, and the proposed amendment. The Council held a public hearing on November 13 and the Planning Board held a hearing on December 3.
