The Town of Falmouth has been working with the Towns of Cumberland and Yarmouth to explore options to expand natural gas distribution lines throughout the three communities. In 2012, the towns conducted a feasibility analysis that created interest from natural gas utility companies. A request for proposal was designed by the towns and sent to natural gas companies. Two companies submitted proposals. Staff from the three towns analyzed the proposals and determined that the next step was to develop a partnership with only one company. All three communities have decided to work with Summit Natural Gas.
A PowerPoint presentation was offered at the February 25 Town Council meeting. At that meeting, the Town Council developed a list of questions and input. Summit Natural Gas provided a satisfactory response to this list (attached).
The attached Memorandum of Understanding will be considered by all three communities.
A special web page has been created on the Town's website. The following documents support this agenda item and can be found by clicking here.
