Subject:
Order to appoint two members to serve on the Falmouth Library Transition Committee.

ACTION: Council action is anticipated.
Summary:
The purpose of a Transition Committee is to include a variety of interests and stakeholders to be fully involved in the assessment and visioning parts of the transition process, including the search for a new Director. Participants/members of the Transition Committee will likely include 3-5 current trustees, 2-3 former trustees, and representatives of the staff, the Friends, 2 appointees from the Town Council, and others with an interest in the Library.

We have attached a timeline and list of Committee duties.

The Transition Committee will be meeting once or twice a month, likely in the evening, for roughly the next six months. This committee will report to the Board of Trustees. The first Committee meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, December 14, 2011, at 7 p.m., with a follow-up meeting likely the first week in January. As outlined in the attachments, there will also be a 4-5 hour meeting on a Friday or Saturday, either the last week of January or the first week in February, where the "visioning" of the leadership goals for the library will take place.  The Director search task component of this process will start in late February or early March.
