On March 28, the Council approved language for Referendum Question 1 and Order regarding the renovation of the Plummer-Motz and Lunt School complex into a community recreation center, town library, and leasable space - see attached documents.
Pursuant to 20-A MRSA §2528 (5), a Public Hearing is required regarding this referendum order and question.The public hearing must be held at least 10 days prior to the referendum.
UPDATE: On March 28, the Council voted to adopt an order regarding this issue. The Town Attorney has since apprised staff that the language of the March 28 order did not specifically state that it should be sent to referendum . The Town Attorney has thereby advised the Town Council to take another vote at tonight’s meeting on a revised order, which is attached (FacilitiesReferendumOrder042511.pdf). An order to waive Council rules will be required in order to entertain this vote, as the order was not attached by noon on Thursday. |
