The Council will conduct a site walk commencing at 1:00 pm at the Highland Lake boat launch parking area, located off the Mast Road. The site walk is open to the public, however public comment will not be taken.
For the first part of the site walk, the Council will review conditions at Lowell Farm, a forest that has been managed for many years in a manner similar to that proposed for the Hadlock Forest. The Council will then proceed to Hadlock Community Forest to review conditions there.
Directions to the Boat Launch, from Falmouth Town Hall (Courtesy of Mapquest):
- Start out going northwest on Falmouth Rd. toward Lady Slipper Lane.
- Falmouth Rd. becomes Mountain Rd.
- Turn right onto Blackstrap Rd.
- Take the 1st Left onto Mast Rd. (If you reach Hidden Oaks Way you've gone about 0.4 miles too far)
- Turn right onto Lowell Farm Rd. (Portions unpaved). Lowell Farm Rd is 0.3 miles past Sunset Rd.
Directions from the Boat Launch to Hadlock Community Forest (Courtesy of Mapquest):
- Start out going southeast on Lowell Farm Rd. toward Mast Rd.
- Turn left onto Mast Rd.
- Turn right onto Blackstrap Rd.
- Take the 3rd left onto Mountain Rd. If you reach Independence Way you've gone a little too far.
- Turn left onto Gray Rd/ME-100/ME-26. Gray Rd. is 0.2 miles past Brook Rd.
- Turn slight right onto Hadlock Rd. Hadlock Rd is 0.2 miles past Sulky Way.
- Approximately 100 yards from the end of Hadlock Rd. there is a small dirt road on the right leading into the woods, with a small parking area. This portion of the site walk will commence there.
