Subject:

Order to authorize the Town Manager to accept/apply for a grant with the Cumberland County Soil and Water Conservation District for Phase III improvements to the Highland Lake watershed.

Summary:

The Town of Falmouth has been participating in this program with the Conservation District and the Town of Windham to reduce erosion and export of sediment and phosphorus into Highland Lake in multi-year phases. Phase II leveraged $225,000 of Federal grant funds. Phase III will continue the road improvement efforts, include a community educational forum for property owners and utilize the Youth Conservation Corps. Total amount cash match requested, $15,000 for base program. The District is requesting an additional $1,000 to support a road grading demonstration project in Falmouth.
