Reading of Minutes: The meeting minutes of February 28, 2002 were accepted unanimously. The meeting minutes of March 5, 2002 were accepted unanimously.
Interview: Mr. Norman Tucker, subsequent to filling out a Talent Bank Form, was invited to attend this meeting. Ms. Himes facilitated the interview. Mr. Tucker was asked to outline his recent activities relevant to the Historical Commission. Mr. Tucker indicated that he is a former member of the Kingston, MA Historical Commission. He is also a volunteer in the History Room at the Adams Library in Kingston. He was instrumental in recommending the formation of the Frederick C. Adams Committee to study the state of the Adams building and its adaptive reuse. He has worked on grant applications and as a liaison to the Massachusetts Historical Commission for the Community Wide Survey. He also has significant experience in grant writing through his former position at the Athenaeum. He is a proponent of educating the community on historical preservation. One of his suggestions for the Community Wide Survey is to send a follow-up letter and copy of the survey form to each owner of a surveyed structure requesting any corrections or additions, including any old photographs. Mr. Tucker, in turn, posed a few questions to the Commission regarding our current and former activities.
Demolition Applications: Walk- throughs have been scheduled for 34 and 54 West Street on March 26th at 4:00 PM.
New Applications: An application has been received for 307 Bay Road. The assessors list the property as being built in 1971. Ms. Kispert will ride by to verify which structure is in question. Since there is no building permit on file, we were asked to review the application.
Warrant Articles: Ms Kispert met with Richard MacDonald. He feels that we are putting the cart before the horse with revisions to the bylaw. He believes we should have a local historic district in place. His other suggestion is to meet with CZBIC. We may have a better chance to get changes through. Ms. Himes suggested we attend some CZBIC meetings to make our presence felt and to offer any feedback appropriate to aspects of Historic Preservation.
Next Meeting: March 21, 2002, 7:00 PM. Nancy Bennett will be a guest.
Adjourned: 6:10 PM

Respectfully submitted,

Josephine M. Hall, Secretary
