DUXBURY HISTORICAL COMMISSION
MEETING MINUTES

Date:           November 17, 2003
Time:           7:00 PM
Location:       Small meeting room, Lower level, Town Hall
Present:        Nicki Kispert, Norman Tucker, Martha Himes, Nancy Bennett.
Absent: Susanna Sheehan, Jody Hall
Call to Order: 7:15 PM
Reading of Minutes: Reading of minutes postponed until next meeting.
Demolition Applications: 1) 33 Linden Lane: Bennett recused herself from discussion and vote. Elizabeth Hudacko is changing plan and as part of change is taking three feet off the pre-1910 bathroom and 1st floor borning room. Hudacko thinks bathroom was added with the indoor plumbing in late 19th / early 20th c. The 19th c cornerpost is well within the room and will not be removed.
Kispert moved that we allow the demolition of the existing kitchen wing. 2 stories and 3’ of the existing bathroom attacked to the main house. Tucker seconded. Motion passed 3-0.

2) 215 Bay Road:  Himes recused herself from discussion and vote. Tucker reported that he had checked the information in the survey form but that it was very general. According to the deeds, it appears to have likely been built c. 1817-1824. There is much original fabric extant but there are lots of support problems-—shaky support and access to cellar difficult. The floor boards are spectacular. Tucker moved that we allow demolition of the entire structure at 215 Bay Road. Bennett seconded. Motion passed 3-0.

New demolition applications: Handed out application for partial demolition at 274 Lincoln St.
Other business: Himes announced invitation from Community Preservation Committee to walk the O’Neil farm on Winter St. A discussion or recusal requirements ensued, with debate over whether or not friendship is a ground for recusal.
Next meetings: Scheduled walkthrough for December 11 and a meeting to vote on December 15.
VII.            Meeting adjourned: 8:00 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Martha Himes
Secretary
