BOARD OF SELECTMEN MEETING April 9, 2002
The meeting was called to order at 7:32 p.m. Present were Selectmen John Tuffy, Chair, Andre Martecchini as well as Rocco Longo, Town Manager. Elizabeth Sullivan arrived at 7:42 p.m.
OPEN FORUM
There was no one present under the Open Forum.
Town Manager's Brief
The Town Manager updated the Board on a few projects that are on going in town.
Mr. Longo attended the Planning Board meeting held last evening and provided the members with the number of candidates that have applied to date for the position of Planning Director to date.
The Town Hall is in transition as we expect the Selectmen/Town Manager's office to be moved to the Old Town Hall by this Friday.
A contract was recently signed with Dufresne Henry in the amount of $9,000 for work to be done on the Evergreen well.
TEAM SAQUISH
Present for discussion with the Board of Selectmen: Mike Jenness, Steven Wall, and John Daley, Duxbury Bay Row Subcommittee, as well as Don Beers, Harbormaster.
Team Saquish has been scheduled for Saturday, April 27, 2002 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and will involve registration, two race events, an awards ceremony and a celebrity cookout.
Letters from Don Beers, Harbormaster, the Duxbury Beach Committee, Gordon Cushing, Recreation Director, Richard MacDonald, Director of Inspectional Services, Chief Harriman, Fire Department, Mark DeLuca, Chief of Police, Jennifer Dalrymple, Health Agent, Friend Weiler, Chair of the Conservation Commission, were acknowledged by John Tuffy, Chair stating that there were no problems to the granting of this request provided that all permits were applied for and granted by the respected Departments.
The Board of Selectmen voted to approve the event for Team Saquish as outlined for Saturday, April 27, 2002 from 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

HISTORICAL COMMISSION APPOINTMENTS

The Board voted favorably to appoint the following individuals to the Historical Commission:
Norman Tucker for a three year term to expire on 6/30/05.
Nancy Bennett for a three year term to expire on 6/30/05.
4/01/02 Minutes
The Board of Selectmen voted to accept the minutes of April 1, 2002 as drafted.
Acceptance of a Gift - Edward McCusker
The Board of Selectmen voted to accept a gift from Edward McCusker in the amount of $1,000 to be used for improvements to the 7th and 8th holes at the North Hill Country Club. A thank you note will be signed and sent from the Selectmen.
