Present:  Nancy Hirshberg, Barbara Laverick, Susan Fuller, Jim Nupp, Steve Day, Bob Chatel,

Approval of Minutes from March 29, 2010:  Jim moved and Susan seconded approving minutes.  Approved unanimously

Earth Week activities follow-up:  Energy Committee had a table at the Earth Week Expo on April 17, there was interest.  People mentioned the Fall, 2008 Energy Expo.  The Energy Committee also presented at Non-Profits night on April 20.  There was a low turn-out so no opportunity to recruit volunteers.  Got good ideas for power point presentations from other  presenters.

EECBG update:  Two years to spend the grant money  (by March, 2012)

  Funding was awarded for energy efficiency measures at armory, public safety building.  Nancy will check with Rob Houseman on status of EEM’s. 

Funding to do audit on ice rink. Nancy will set up meeting with Bob Lemaire about setting up a meeting with Ethan Hipple to move auditing project forward.

Community Energy plan (CEP)  (See page Nancy passed out)

Establish community energy task

Identify and hire team of energy experts

Nancy will talk with Rob Houseman about doing an RFP to secure engineers to recommend best practices, alternatives, renewable, etc.  Hire by August.  Steve has volunteered to assist with TEE.

In conversation with Master students from University of Michigan to develop ideas on funding mechanisms.

Community stake holder forum in winter.  Develop municipal short, mid and long term energy goals.

Then presentation to sell idea.  Set goals, get approval.     

Community piece:  $15,000 for two interns.  This summer Nancy will look at Master’s programs that would have qualified students.

Committee membership

    According to our records Susan, Nancy and Josh have expired terms.  Nancy and Josh will re-up to August, 2011.

     Jim and Barbara’s terms expire 2010.

    Bob Chatel and Steve Day will take two year terms to 2012.

Nancy will confirm with Dave Owen that our information is accurate.

   Barbara will arrange with Dave Owen which Selectman’s meeting committee members will be re-newed and placed on committee.

Lakes Region Energy Expo:  Nancy will send Bob and Steve links to Local Energy Committee group, Lakes Region group and WIKI.  Josh will update WIKI with grant proposal, people and activities.  Barbara and Susan will determine date and place by mid June.

New business

Other funds available:  Nancy will send information about solar hot water funds to committee members.

Jim will pursue issue of roof loads and solar panels.

Next meeting:  6pm, June 28 at Community Center.  Susan Will book.
