PUBLIC HEARING:
· File 2006-06 – An application for a variance to remove a leaking roof, raise walls by 32” and install new peaked roof on property at 143 River Road (South Station Firehouse) (Map 15, Lot 14A) Owner/Applicant: Willington Fire Department., Inc. #1.
Hearing opened at 7:32 p.m. Present for the application: Stuart Cobb
Mr. Cobb explained the need to raise roof and change from a three bay garage to a two bay garage to accommodate the newer fire trucks built since the building was first constructed.
Hardship is that the existing building is non-conforming due to setbacks. The changes planned are not going to affect either width or length of building.
Mrs. Alice Cassells of 145 River Rd. spoke in favor of the project.
Closed hearing at 7:38 p.m.
Regular meeting called to order at 7:38 p.m. Members present – same as above.
Mr. Masinda presented the minutes of 5/11/06 and asked if any members had any corrections. There were none. Ms. Poole made a motion to approve the minutes, Mr. Semprebon seconded. Vote: All in favor.
New Business:
· File #2006-07 – Application for a variance to construct a porch across and to right side of house on property at 49 Schofield Road (Map 43, Lot 18) Owner/Applicant: Robert J. Dickson, Sr. (Received 6/8/06, Site walk 7/11/06 at 6 p.m., Public Hearing 7/13/2006)
Mr. Gary Dickson, son of owner and John Jenkins, contractor for project were present.
Old Business:
File #2006-06 – An application for a variance to remove a leaking roof, raise walls by 32” and install new peaked roof on property at 143 River Road (South Station Firehouse) (Map 15, Lot 14A) Owner/Applicant: Willington Fire Department., Inc. #1.
Members discussed the footprint of the building was not going to change but a four foot overhang was going to be built when replacing the roof. The members also discussed to three variances needed on the north, south and east sides of the building.
Ms. Poole made a motion to approve File 2006-06 for variances of 21’6” on north side; 31’ east side and an 18’ on south side to remove leaking roof, raise walls by 32 inches and install new peaked roof and two garage doors on property at 143 River Road. Mr. Wilson seconded motion. No other discussion. Vote: All in favor. Motion carried.
Ms. Poole made a motion to adjourn, Mr. Semprebon seconded. Vote: All in favor.
