MINUTES
SPECIAL TOWN MEETING
October 1, 2014
The meeting was called to order at 7:03 p.m.
First Selectman, Christina Mailhos read the call of the meeting and asked for nominations for a moderator. Kim Kowalyshyn made a motion to appoint Christina Mailhos as moderator and was seconded by John Blessington.
Motion carried.
The moderator read the call of the meeting again.
Item I
Public Hearing Item:
A presentation and discussion the discount prescription drug program sponsored by CCM ( No vote on this item).
A presentation was given by a representative from Connecticut Conference of Municipalities about the partnership the town has with them concerning ProAct Prescription Discount Card. Any questions can be addressed at 1-877-776-2285 0r visit www.CTRxDiscountCard.com. There are also cards in the Selectmen’s Office you may pick up.
Item II
To see if the townspeople, on the recommendation of the Board of Selectmen and the Board of Finance, and after 8-24 review from the Planning and Zoning Commission, will authorize the appropriation of $22,500 from unassigned General Fund Balance for the purchase of 12 acres of land at 33 Hancock Road ID# (38-019-00) for $20,000 and $2,500 towards closing and due diligence costs.
Moderator read Item II.
A motion was made by John Blessington and seconded by Kim Kowalyshyn to approve Item II.
Discussion followed.
No plans yet on what they will do except moving the Salt Shed and the sand pile behind the Public Works Garage. The 12 acres being purchased will extent the whole parcel of land including the garage, dog pound and the transfer station to 52 acres total. There is some wet land on the property and a question was ask about logging. Public Works Director said maybe possible selective logging.

Item III
To see if the townspeople, on the recommendation of the Board of Selectmen, will authorize the
First Selectman to execute documents related to the Town’s purchase of 12 acres of land at 33 Hancock Road ID# (38-019-00) for a sale price of $20,000.
Moderator read Item III.
A motion was made by John Blessington and seconded by Kim Kowalyshyn to approve Item III.
No Discussion.
Motion carried.
A motion was made by John Blessington and seconded Kim Kowalyshyn to adjourn the meeting.
Meeting was adjourned at 7:42 p.m.
