TOWN OF WILLINGTON
MINUTES
SPECIAL TOWN MEETING
May 17, 2011
The meeting was called to order at 7:02 p.m.
First Selectman, Christina Mailhos read the call of the meeting and asked for nominations for a
Moderator. Tish Ignatowicz made a motion to appoint John Patton as moderator and was seconded by
Mary Bowen.
Motion carried.
Item I.
To see if the townspeople, on the recommendation of the Board of Finance, will authorize the appropriation of $12,500.00 from fund 6 Parks & Recreation Capital Fund to Fund 12 Park & Recreation.
A motion was made by Mary Bowen and seconded by Alan Ference to approve
Item I.
Discussion followed..
Joe Colangelo Chair of the Parks and Recreation Commission spoke and said that the money is needed to complete Phase II of the River Road project.
Selectman Blessington feels that just because we have money we do not necessarily have to spend it. He thinks it would be better to hold off until the State money comes through and we see where we stand.
Teri Gareau, Parks and Recreation Director stated that State Statue mandates that this money be used for the purchase, development and preservation of park and recreation projects.
Motion carried.
A motion was made by Mary Bowen and seconded by Kim Kowalyshyn to adjourn the meeting at 7:10 P.M. .
