Town Office Building March 19, 2014
Selectmen’s Conference Room 7:00 P.M.
First Selectman Mailhos called the meeting to order at 7:05 P.M. with Selectmen Kowalyshyn & Blessington, Amanda Palotti, Payroll Coordinator and a resident.
- Personnel Policy Workshop
First Selectman Mailhos stated that she received some answers to the questions that were asked at the last meeting from the Town Attorney.
- The Town is covered by FMLA, because the BOE employees end up putting us over the threshold of minimum employees. Amanda Pallotti clarified that the BOE has a separate employer ID than the Town, and that issue should be double checked.
- Meal periods should be recorded on everyone’s time sheet (those who take a meal break).
- If an employee is out on unpaid leave; they must still pay their normal share of insurance.
The BOS picked up where they left off at the last meeting; page 18.
Jury Duty leave was discussed. The following clarification will be added: The Town will pay the difference between what the court pays when serving Jury Duty.
First Selectman Mailhos clarified that we are looking at the policies because the document has not been reviewed in at least 10 years. She added if anyone has an issue or disagreement with any of the changes once they are approved, they may appeal to the Board of Selectmen.
Authorized leave will be changed to “Unauthorized leave.”
The concept of a daily value was discussed; and crediting time for holidays. The Sexual Harassment Policy will be reviewed to make sure it is up to date with State Statute.
The Workplace Violence Policy is a new policy and was previously discussed at a recent meeting.
The headings on all of the sections will be standardized and typo’s will be corrected.
Appendixes and the Definitions page(s) will be reviewed at another meeting.
First Selectman Mailhos stated that she will make the changes to the document from these meetings and another workshop will be held to review with the Appendixes and Definitions.
Selectman Kowalyshyn moved to adjourn the meeting at 8:46 P.M.
Selectman Blessington seconded the motion.
Vote: 3 Yes (Mailhos, Kowalyshyn & Blessington) 0 No.
Respectfully submitted,
Robin Campbell
