Meeting Minutes
Regular Meeting January 6, 2014
Lower Level Conference Room 6:30 P.M.

First Selectman Mailhos called the meeting to order at 6:32 P.M. with the following in attendance: Selectmen Kowalyshyn & Blessington and residents. First Selectman Mailhos led the Pledge of Allegiance.
Approval of Minutes:
Selectman Blessington moved to approve the minutes of December 16, 2013 as written
Selectman Kowalyshyn seconded the motion.
Vote 3 Yes (Mailhos Kowalyshyn & Blessington) 0 No.
Present to Speak:
No one was present to speak.
Correspondence:
A list of correspondence was available at the meeting and in the Selectman’s office. First Selectman Mailhos noted a memo that came in from MIRMA, which soon will be dissolving. A meeting will be held in a few weeks in regards to the disbanding.
First Selectman Status Report
First Selectman Mailhos went over the report:
*Turnpike Road Phase II – will begin once the weather breaks.
*OTH – The bid documents have gone out. A pre bid meeting will be held on January 14th at 9AM and the bids will be due back by January 27th.
Public Works:
First Selectman Mailhos stated that the weather has been a challenge. She noted that Polster Road Bridge was closed on Tuesday, December 31st.
New Business
- Re-designation of WINCOG boundaries
First Selectman Mailhos stated that we have received a letter from OPM, which has now deemed Willington as part of the CRCOG. She noted that WINCOG will be disbanding during the next 6 months and they are now going to work towards the dissolution of the region.
Old Business
- Reminder – Town Meeting – January 14, 2014
First Selectman Mailhos reminded everyone that the Town meeting will be held next Tuesday, January 14th. The first three items on the agenda will be in regards to the Center School Roof; a resolution must be adopted to authorize the Board of Education to apply for a grant, and to form a building committee as well as prepare schematic drawings and outline specifications for the roof replacement.
The last three items on the agenda will be informational: A lease /purchase agreement for a new pickup truck and new ambulance for Willington Fire Department #1. Lastly, a lease/ purchase agreement for a used Elgin sweeper and a used backhoe for the Public Works Department.
Good & Welfare
First Selectman Mailhos congratulated Kyle Leach on his Eagle Scout Award of Honor, which will be on January 12th. Mr. Leach updated the landscape and painted the doors and trim at Willington Hill Fire Department as part of his project.
First Selectman Mailhos stated that the budget process has begun. Several Boards and Commissions will be holding budget workshops in the next month.
First Selectman Mailhos reminded residents that we still have several vacancies on several of our boards and commissions.
Executive Session
Selectman Blessington moved to go into Executive Session to discuss a personnel matter at 7:00 P.M.
Selectman Kowalyshyn seconded the motion.
Vote: 3 Yes (Mailhos, Kowalyshyn & Blessington) 0 No.
Selectman Blessington moved to come out of Executive Session at 7:55 P.M.
Selectman Kowalyshyn seconded the motion.
Vote: 3 Yes (Mailhos, Kowalyshyn & Blessington) 0 No.
Selectman Blessington moved to adjourn the meeting at 7:55 P.M.
