Common Conference Room Immediately following Town Meeting
A. ~Set date, time and place for Referendum
First Selectman Mailhos called the meeting to order with Selectmen Littell & Blessington at 8:15 P.M. Town Clerk, Donna Hardie, Assistant Town Clerk Maureen Gantick and residents were in attendance.
First Selectman Mailhos noted that she has consulted with the Registrars of Voters and Town Clerk and set the date for the Referendum to be November 7, adding that we are working under a deadline of November 8th . The event will be held at the Town Office Building; 40 Old Farms Road. Christine Psathas, Democrat Registrar recommended having the polls be open from 12PM until 8 PM, which would save the Town some money.
First Selectman Mailhos moved to set the time for the referendum to be 12:00 PM to 8:00 P.M on November 7, 2013.
Selectman Littell seconded the motion.
Discussion was held on the time that the polling place should be open. Selectman Littell noted that he heard from residents that they would not want to limit anyone’s opportunity to vote. Selectman Blessington agreed.
Vote: 0 Yes 3 No (Mailhos, Littell & Blessington)
Motion failed.
Selectman Littell moved to set the time for the referendum to be 6AM to 8PM on November 7, 2013.
Selectman Blessington seconded the motion.
Vote 3 Yes (Mailhos, Littell & Blessington) 0 No.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:25 P.M.
