SPECIAL MEETING                                                                                                                    AUG. 30, 2007
TOWN OFFICE BUILDING                                                                                                              FOLLOWING
                                                                                                          3:30 MEETING

First Selectman Eldredge called the meeting to order at 4:35 P.M. with the following in attendance:  Selectmen Patton & Lewis, L. Nicholls and residents.

PUBLIC WORKS
The Board signed bills.  Lynn reported that the work Mr. Hockla is talking about needs an excavator and is on private property.  Discussion on this followed.  First Selectman Eldredge commented we will tell him it is a big job and we do not have an excavator.  Discussion followed about the curbing and the open catch basin on the corner of Pinney Hill and Luchon Roads.  This will be added to the project list.  Selectman Patton suggested that we keep an updated list by marking the jobs as done, ongoing and added.  Selectman Lewis commented Lynn is saving the Town lots of money by doing the GASB in-house but is unavailable then for other projects.  Lynn commented she is seeing first hand, while doing GASB, how bad the roads are.  Lynn reported that the water truck has a bad leak and is in for repair, we may need to think of a new one for next year.  The Fire Dept. has been very helpful while the truck is down.  Discussion followed on what should be done regarding politicking at the Transfer Station; this should not disturb the people or the employees.  It was agreed there would be one area at the Transfer Station where candidates could stand, anyone wanting to talk to them can go over to talk to the candidates.  This way the public and the employees would not be disturbed or be made to feel uncomfortable.  Karl should have the bids ready to go next week.  Lynn commented they are working on the following:  Transfer Station permit, OSHA material, line painting, guard rails, the permit for the 320 pit, the compactor, the chemical shed, the recycling shed and renovations.  We have 49 speed signs that need to be approved by the State.  First Selectman Eldredge asked Lynn to send in the paper work for the approval.  Selectman Lewis commented we need to think about another employee for Public Works, give a heads up to the Board of Finance.

EXECUTIVE SESSION – not held.

SELECTMAN LEWIS MOVED TO ADJOURN THE MEETING AT 5:10 P.M.
Selectman Patton seconded the motion.
VOTE:  3 YES (ELDREDGE, PATTON & LEWIS)    0  NO
